The picture most people get in their head when they hear girl’s trip is four or more women eating, sunbathing and dancing all while drinking and in a fabulous location… Tahoe anyone? For the most part I think this is a pretty accurate image. Whether you drive, fly or cruise, camp, hotel or B&B, as long as there are at least two women (young or old), its a girl’s trip!
There was this one time, on a Las Vegas girl’s trip, I started talking to my BFF on the dance floor and forgot I had just taken a sip of my drink and spit it out all over her…story for another time. This was a trip of woman in Las Vegas and there certainly was drinking! Picture perfect girl’s trip.
This may be a fan letter to my girls!
But I recently realized I also use the term, girl’s trip, when I’m referring to a road trip with my daughters and it is picture perfect as well!
Girl’s Trips are great if the company is also great!
There isn’t any drinking but the eating, dancing and being out in the sun are a huge part of our trips. You can also add game playing, singing really loud and movie watching to the list of girl’s trip activities.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a trip with my adult female friends to unwind, talk (gossip) and hang out…all while drinking. But my favorite girl’s trips are the trips I go on with my daughters.
I don’t know what it is but the three of them together is pure magic. They get along great with the exception of the occasional who gets to sit in the front squabble! They always manage to work it out with very little blood.
My girls are hilarious!
The four of us laugh so much I often have tears running down my face! There isn’t a person in existence that makes me laugh like the three of them together!
With two girls in college the four of us don’t make it out as often as I like but it’s still magic when we’re together and I try to make shorter trips happen as often as I can. Even if it’s just a weekend at Mt. Madonna. We can cram a lot of games and movies into 2 days!
We just went to Disneyland for my daughter’s 21st birthday. We did fly because we didn’t have a lot of time. We had a great time and went on all the rides and had a lot of churros…there was also a little drinking…it was her 21st birthday afterall! Don’t worry, I got a picture of her being carded!
Our next girls trip
This month has been spent planning and booking Girls Road Trip 2023. The first 2 weeks will just be me and Abs driving around the Pacific Northwest…basically mid California to the border of Canada. We will see at least five National Parks and drive about 2000 miles. It is time with my daughter that neither one of us will ever forget. That’s what makes these types of girls trips so important. The memories we will have will carry on to my daughters and their kids.
The third week the other two girls will meet us in Truckee at our campground. We have taken a million road trips to Lake Tahoe and it is never old. There will be singing, dancing, movies, games, Jax at the Tracks, Truckee Nights, shopping, Northstar and of course the beautiful Lake Tahoe beach. There are many things we have to do when we are in Tahoe because we’ve done them since the girls were little… and some of which I’ve done since I was little.
The point is
My point is “girls trip” can mean so many things. A ski trip with your girlfriends, a cruise with you mother and grandmother, wine tasting with your sister or a road trip with your daughters. Feeling strong, happy and loved with the women in your life while having fun and laughing is the best description of a girls trip. Gather your ladies, contact me at Hit the RoadTrips and take a trip!
